NLRA Board of Trustees 2011

Rosemary D’Arcy, Chair  Rosemary has been coming to Newfound Lake since 1963, when on an early date with her husband, Herb, she visited “his favorite place”. Originally from New York, Rosemary attended college in Massachusetts where she met and eventually married Herb.  Over the years Newfound Lake was always their vacation place and they and their sons spent many summers enjoying its beauty. In 1982, they purchased the land on Arrowhead Point where they built a small year-round cottage so they could enjoy the Lake in every season. Rosemary has spent the last 30+ years working as an organizational development and leadership professional for a wide range of corporations and not for profits. Her work has focused on helping organizations improve their effectiveness and helping leaders lead.

Now retired, Rosemary and Herb plan to spend more time at the Lake and look forward to working with NLRA to help preserve and protect this beautiful lake and its surrounding area.

Ken Weidman, Treasurer  Ken grew up in Massachusetts, and summered with his family on a small island off mid-coast Maine. In 1961 he met his wife Susan and was introduced to “the lake” and her family’s cottage on Whittemore Point. Ken, who retired in 2004 after 40 years in the banking business, was involved in community activities in Massachusetts, including the Presidencies of the Andover Little League and the Lawrence based Merrimack Valley YMCA. Ken currently serves as a permanent member of the Bridgewater Planning Board. Ken and Susan moved from their family home in Andover, MA to Bridgewater in 2004. Both Ken and Susan enjoy cross country “skate skiing” in the winter months, and in the warmer months, road biking boating, and kayaking. Susan is also a member of the Newfound Tracking Team.

Helga Stamp, Secretary  Helga has a secretarial background, and has been involved in numerous volunteer positions with non-profits in the fields of education, museums and the arts. She moved to Bristol with her family from upstate New York in 1996 after vacationing in the area since 1968. She still enjoys climbing the 4,000 footers. Helga is also tri-lingual, as a native of Germany, and is active in the Lakes Region German Group.

Greg Wagner  Greg owns West Shore Marine and is a native of Bristol.  He is instrumental in keeping our pontoon boat in top shape, and a major contributor to the purchase of our new boat in 2011.  On his occasional days off he tends to his family, runs mountains to stay fit, and mixes dirt biking and snowmobiling in season.

Rob Moore
Rob Moore was raised on the campus of the New Hampton School, in New Hampton, NH, and spent many summer days on Newfound Lake where his parents have a place on Pasquaney Bay.  Rob’s New Hampshire roots instilled in him a love of the Lakes Region and left him with a devotion to the area and a desire to give back to the people and places of New Hampshire and to protect the state’s natural resources.  Rob has spent his career in education and been at Lawrence Academy in Groton, MA, for 27 years. He currently serves as the school’s assistant head of school. In addition to his service to the Newfound Lake Region Association, Rob is on the Board of Trustees of The Mayhew Program and the New Hampton School.  Rob and his wife Laura have a home on the west shore of Newfound Lake, and, as they and their three daughters say, “There’s no place like Newfound Lake!”

Laura Moore  Laura “married into the lake.” She and husband Rob, a native of New Hampton, own a house on Wulamat Road in Bristol. Laura and Rob have lived and worked at Lawrence Academy, a small boarding school in Groton, MA, for 27 years. Their three daughters, Grace ‘04, Katherine ’06, and Elibet ‘09, graduated from Lawrence. Laura is chair of LA’s English Department and its Early Intervention Team. She has had short fiction, non-fiction and poetry published in various magazines, as well as a chapbook collection of poetry, titled YAHOODIPS.  Laura is a native of Groton, MA, and currently serves on Groton’s Historic Districts Commission. She has also volunteered for The Local Cultural Council, Groton’s 350th Birthday Celebration, and Groton Reads. Laura is committed to serving the communities in which she and her family live, and over the years Newfound Lake has become as central to her family as it is to all of New Hampshire.

Jan Collins
Jan was born and raised in Florida and moved to New England as a young adult The beauty of New England with all the water, (lakes, ocean, streams) mountains, seasons, culture, cities and landscapes captured her heart from the very first day. She worked with the Polaroid Corporation and was on the development team that designed and installed SAP as the working system for Polaroid, and supported a Europe division after installation. Jan was also an avid skier and snow ski instructor. Now retired, she enjoys “heaven on earth” here on Newfound Lake, while watching over children and grandchildren, and leading a very active life.

Ed McNierney  Ed is an active conservationist from Groton, Massachusetts with strong connections to the Newfound Lake area.  He is currently Chief Technology Officer and VP of Engineering at the non-profit One Laptop per Child Foundation in Cambridge, MA and serves or has served on the Groton Conservation Trust, the Nashua River Watershed Association, the Massachusetts Audubon Society Council, and The Trustees of Reservations.  He is active in municipal affairs (Groton Finance Committee Chair, expansion of historic Groton Public Library).  His children attend or have attended Camps Onaway and Pasquaney, and his wife Kate is an Onaway alum and current Trustee.  Ed and Kate are completing their new low-impact summer getaway on Pike Hill Road, also Hebron's first yurt.
