Background

The “Floating Classroom”

The best way to learn about Lake and Marsh Ecology, and Watershed Management is to “get out there” on the water in our pontoon boat with our wonderful captains and naturalists! We provide an educational program as well as “hands-on” water quality testing activities.
Tours are available by request from May through September for:
  • Town boards
  • School classes - Newfound Region HS, Newfound Memorial Middle School)
  • Camps - Onaway, Circle Program
  • Organizations - Audubon, Pasquaney Garden Club
  • B & B visitors
  • ….. Anyone really!

Free Tours* are open to the public and sponsored on Wed. and Sun. mornings, from 9-11:30 am, in the summer months, departing from The Inn on Newfound on Rte. 3A in Bridgewater.  Call Captain Glen Copatch at 603-744-8234 to schedule for our regular tours, or to make special arrangements to come to your dock! Schedules will be posted here in the summer months. Groups must have between 6 – 10 guests for the boat to launch.

The Floating Classroom for the public was launched the summer of 2006 with a grant (see photo below) from the New Hampshire Electric Cooperative Foundation (www.nhec.com).
