In partnership with the Newfound Area School District, the Minot-Sleeper Library, and other community groups, NLRA launched a wildlife camera project that turns local students into field scientists exploring the Newfound watershed.

Now in its second year, the project uses motion-activated cameras at sites like Grey Rocks Conservation Area and Hebron Town Forest to capture glimpses of the wildlife that share our region. Students analyze the images to identify species, track activity, and build data skills—deepening their understanding of local ecosystems and their role in protecting them.

By connecting classroom learning with hands-on science, NLRA and its partners are cultivating curiosity, fostering stewardship, and empowering young people to care for Newfound Lake and its watershed for generations to come.
