From leading field trips to visiting after school programs, we’re helping young learners explore local ecosystems and understand how their actions impact the health of our environment. Protecting the Newfound Watershed starts with education and expands through action.

Learning Outdoors with Local Schools

We partner regularly with Danbury Elementary and Bridgewater-Hebron Village School, where students head outside to learn about native plants, animal habitats, weather patterns, and more. Through hands-on activities, they experience the wonders of the watershed right in their own backyards.

What Lives in the Water Tells a Story

Aquatic invertebrates, like mayflies and caddisflies, are tiny but important indicators of water quality. NLRA works with local students to collect and examine these organisms, helping them discover how these critters reflect the health of our streams and ponds.

After School Adventures with the TTCC

At the Tapply-Thompson Community Center, students dig into soil science (literally!), paint with dirt, and go birdwatching in Kelley Park—all with NLRA’s guidance. Every outing is a new opportunity to learn and connect with nature and the Newfound Watershed.

By connecting kids to the natural world, we’re inspiring the next generation of conservationists. NLRA partners with schools, camps, and community programs. We also offer year-round events to engage people of all ages in conservation. Explore all our events at: NewfoundLake.org/events.
