With the arrival of spring, hungry black bears are emerging from winter dens. NH Fish and Game has recommendations to reduce bear-human conflicts – by preventing them in the first place! Here’s what you can do:
- Put away your bird feeders.
- Protect backyard poultry, livestock, and bees with electric fencing.
- Secure dumpsters and garbage cans.
- Bring pet and animal feed indoors.
- Never deliberately feed bears – this reduces their chance of survival.
